After four weeks of battle, the annual "FIGBA Sabayan Para Sa Masa 8 - Stag Derby", a P15 -million nationwide stagfest, drew 961 entries as of yesterday.

 

"With 123 elimination rounds to go, we are on the right track of hitting the 4,000 - entry target," said Ricoy Palmares Jr., president of International Federation of Gamefowl Breeders Associations ( Figba ).

 

The upcoming schedules: Sept. 25 at Bato Sports Complex ( Camarines Norte ), Sept. 27 and 29 at Aznar Sports Complex ( Central Visayas ) and Sept. 28 at New Marilao Coliseum ( Bulacan ).

 

Major sponsors are Thunderbird, Excellence Poultry and Livestock Specialists and B-Meg.

 

Locally banded stags from FIGBA affiliated groups as well as Bakbakan stags will be accepted ( weight limits of 1.7 to 2.2 kgs. ).

 

Elimination rounds are underway in the provinces and final rounds will be held simultaneously in various venues on Oct. 22.
